Unlike apples and oranges, the definition of air vents and air ductors are often confused on a daily basis. Besides sounding similar in name, these important parts of every HVAC system play a huge role in your everyday life. Air Vents
When you step inside of a house, what is one of the first things you notice? For most, it might be the living room or kitchen — but what about the air vents? For those that are unfamiliar with this HVAC staple, an air vent is the metal/plastic grate that is found on most ceilings and walls. Known as the “mouth” of a home heating/cooling unit, this ventilated grate is the source of where the hot and cold air will come from, keeping your home at a comfortable temperature.
Air Ducts
Unlike an air vent, this part of a home heating and cooling system is hidden from sight. To simplify this HVAC term, a ductor is the aluminum tunnel that connects drives heat/airflow to the air vent in each room. Air ducts are extremely important to any heating/cooling system since they’re insulated and will help set the desired temperature in a room of your choice.
