A staple of the summer, for many homeowners, is having a barbecue. Whether it’s with family, friends, or both, there’s no room for error when it comes to having a wonderful time! Before the big day arrives, you might be scrambling around for last-minute paper goods, grill meats, and beverages, but what about preparing your plumbing before your guests arrive? To prevent a plumbing disaster from occurring on the big day, be sure to:
Stock Your Bathroom
While it would be in your best interest to restock the hand soap, hand towels, and toilet paper in your bathroom, it would also be best to make sure that you have some preventative plumbing disaster tools. One of the most important is a toilet plunger. If a guest happens to clog your toilet, you can imagine how terrified they’d be to pull you aside and say that they clogged the throne.
Another item to have is a garbage can. While most bathrooms already have a small trash can near the toilet or under the sink, some do not have one at all. To prevent your guests from flushing debris down the toilet, make sure that a garbage can is present or put in plain sight. If you would like to take extra precaution, make a friendly little sign to place in your bathroom!
Make Your Garbage Disposal Off Limits
Do you have a garbage disposal in your kitchen? If so, it may be wise to make this essential tool off limits. The reason being, some guests do not own one of these devices, and they might feed it the wrong item — which can be a recipe for disaster and potentially break your garbage disposal altogether.
